Reconnect to Nature: Reconnect to Self Wise River Wellness

Background

Throughout my life, I’ve found solace and healing in the tranquility of nature. Initially retreating to the woods near my parent’s house, my connection with nature deepened through exploration—forests, rivers, and mountains became my sanctuary during times of hardship.

In my 20s and early 30s, this affinity for nature and a passion to foster harmony between people and the land led me to embark on a career in community-based watershed conservation. Working in diverse communities, I dedicated myself to enhancing watersheds, recognizing the intrinsic link between a healthy environment and a thriving community. Water, as the life force, played a central role. Concurrently, I underwent my own healing and personal growth journey.

As I delved into the intricacies of watersheds, geology, environmental social justice, and community initiatives, I found myself pondering new questions. What does it truly mean to be in a relationship—with ourselves, our partners, families, communities, and all life on earth? How can we initiate personal healing to contribute to the well-being of our communities and the shared outdoor spaces we cherish? This led me to this unique, holistic path of combining nature with therapy and coaching.

Theory

I’ve found answers to my questions through the people and communities I’ve worked with.

Being a holistic human means being connected to our surroundings—people, plants, animals, and life around us. It involves engaging all our senses through creative expressions like dance, music, art, movement, food, and culture. As humans, we want to be our authentic selves, share with loved ones, care for our communities, connect with the natural world, and live fully in body and spirit. Being holistic today means being in touch with our emotions, with others, finding meaning in daily life, connecting to our food, culture, communities, and the natural world. It’s about seeking support when needed and embracing our shared humanity for a more vibrant wellness.

Our sessions are more than just a therapeutic experience. We will proceed with a comprehensive approach to well-being that goes beyond addressing immediate concerns. Engaging with Wise River Wellness:

  5. Mind-Body Connection: The approach also recognizes the importance of emotional intelligence, meaningful connections, and a mindful lifestyle. You are encouraged to explore the connection between your emotions, daily lives, and broader aspects like food, culture, and the natural world.

A Path of Awareness and Connection

Our work is grounded in presence, awareness, and connection to both self and environment. Each service offers a different depth of engagement, while supporting a shared purpose, to help you return to yourself with clarity.

I have been working with Ky for almost two years, and it has been transformative. He’s helped me to do deep work on long-standing issues of perfectionism and self-worth. He has a very compassionate yet direct approach to therapy, and a gift for leading you to make the emotional realization on your own rather than just telling you. 5 stars! Ky was my therapist for over two years, and I can’t thank him enough for the positive impact he had on my life. Our sessions began in the office, but more and more, we found ourselves grabbing our jackets to head to the river trail for a walk outside, where Ky was diligently respectful of my privacy in these public settings. I learned how my unique attachment needs affected my relationships and how to identify different parts of myself through visualized exercises using rocks, sticks, pinecones, etc. Ky guided me toward understanding self-compassion in a real, tangible, and accessible way, enabling me to show up for myself and serve those around me with kindness.
