What Therapy and Working Together Looks Like
First off, let me say that no one person is the exact same when it comes to their internal world and the context and struggles they face in life. That said, our bodies have similar ways of storing energy and creating beliefs of self to keep us safe at one point or another in our lives. Despite these often deeply held versions of self in body and mind, these responses may not serve us later in life to the extent we desire for growth.
Where do we start? Lets begin to identify what beliefs, stories, fears, and body held responses you hold still that prevent or restrict your growth. Lets utilize mindfulness and embodiment to increase your awareness and felt experience of undesirable patterns while gaining insight into how to effectively shift these patterns towards more clarity, compassion, creativity, and connection. Lets explore questions about what parts make up you, how your sensory experiences create stories in the moment , incorporate movement and breathing for awareness and insight, and help you build lasting tools for a better life.
I incorporate a number of modalities and approaches into how I work. First and foremost, I strive to be present, in my body, and in the moment with my clients to create the space for deep listening, noticing, and awareness. I utilize Internal Family Systems for exploring parts of self and re-integrating parts with self. I incorporate Somatics, Embodiment practices, and breathing for increasing awareness of how the body moves through life and ways to work with the nervous system for self and co-regulation. I also bring in a deep knowledge of Family systems and couples work, focused on the importance of your relationships from a partner to your community. Overarching much of my work, I incorporate ancestral and place-based practices of connecting to the natural world as a form of healing and inspiration. In our hectic lives, some may find themselves disconnected from nature. Nature journeys, whether brief or daily, can serve as a remedy. Reconnecting with nature not only instills confidence but also establishes a profound internal connection. Growth becomes not just a possibility but a foundational aspect of one’s being.When it comes to setting the container, I strive to provide clients with 3 options for our work: outside in a nature based setting either walking and talking or sitting, in a traditional but plant rich office space, or over televideo.
